Umusepela Crown – Wrong Role Modelo

Zambian conscious rap technician Umusepela Crown drops a thought provoking, bar heavy hip-hop tune called “Wrong Role Modelo” lifted from his studio project Star Wakumwesu.

This meditative offering comes at a time when Southern African hip-hop lovers and Zee beats purists are craving real, message-driven rap albums that respond to societal pressures and public expectations. Umusepela Crown comes forth with a sharp penmanship, open self-reflection to deconstruct the responsibilities of fame, the weight of youth influence and the artificial pedestals fans put on artists.

On the boards behind him, the sound architect builds a gritty, mid-tempo hip-hop soundtrack, built on banging kick drums, sharp snares and a deep, resonant bassline. Atmospheric synth textures gradually loop under the rhythm to keep the bounce going non-stop, but providing plenty of headroom in the mix for his vocals.

Umusepela Crown owns the mic with controlled breathing, complex cadences and a rough delivery.
