EU Observer Mission Urges ECZ to Ensure Equal Voting Rights Ahead of August 13 Polls

The European Union Observation Mission to Zambia has called on the Electoral Commission Of Zambia (ECZ) to ensure that all citizens are able to participate in the August 13 General Elections on an equal and universal basis.
EU Mission Deputy Chief Observer, Dr. Beata Rozumilowicz, has said the ECZ faces the challenge of adapting to a new legal framework and new electoral system, which will require a different approach to election management, including enhanced training and voter education.
She has urged the ECZ to empower Zambians by putting in place a framework that allows all citizens to vote on an equal basis, including persons with disabilities who have the same rights to participate.
Meanwhile, Dr. Rozumilowicz said Zambia is politically different from Zimbabwe, describing it as having a clear identity of plurality.
