Umusepela Crown – As I Am Ft Mr Turner

Zambian conscious rap technician Umusepela Crown teams up with vocal performer Mr Turner for a soul-stirring, emotionally resonant hip-hop collaboration, “As I Am”, on his landmark studio CD Star Wakumwesu.

This self-reflective release arrives at the perfect time for Southern African hip-hop lovers and Zee beats devotees looking for bar-heavy, message-driven rap recordings that blend genuine street grit with raw vulnerability and self-acceptance. Umusepela Crown joins up with Mr Turner to explore identity with razor-sharp penmanship. No pretenses, just a demand to be welcomed without compromise for one’s flaws, previous scars and true character.

The sound architect crafts a warm, mid-tempo hip-hop ambiance behind the boards, anchored by hammering kick drums, sharp snares and a deep, rolling bassline. Atmospheric keys and delicate melodic chords loop gently over the groove, keeping a constant bounce but leaving adequate headroom throughout the mix for the vocals to sound with absolute clarity.

Umusepela Crown leads the verses with controlled breath control, precise cadences and raw delivery. Mr Turner lifts the arrangement with an expressive, textured hook that reinforces the track’s main message.

The songs are about being real and self-value and standing in your truth. Listen to “As I Am” on your favorite digital platform today!
