Okmalumkoolkat – Umshibiliko

OKMALUMKOOLKAT – Umshibiliko (iTheku eThekwini)—Umshibiliko, the fifth track on Okmalumkoolkat’s 2026 project “iTheku eThekwini” album, is a fascinating auditory moment. This is a good placement in the middle of an 11 track lineup and is a specific placement in the flow of the album’s narrative.

The project celebrates Okmalumkoolkat’s roots in South Africa, contextualizing his sound inside a culture that flows across the release. Umshibiliko complements the record’s coherence, presenting a unique chapter in the larger musical odyssey of the “iTheku eThekwini” album.

The song is the fifth in order in the project and serves to counterbalance the momentum of the project. It becomes a critical moment to bridge the opening and closing songs. The year of the work’s release, 2026, is underlined by a current age in which the artist’s continued development within the South African music industry is also evident.
