Zedwap Freshman Freestyle Is Here

As part of our mission to spotlight upcoming talent, we are excited to officially launch the Zedwap Freshman Freestyle. This series will kick off in 2025 and marks the beginning of what we intend to make an annual tradition, dedicated to promoting raw artistry and lyrical expression.

The Freshman Freestyle is our platform where artists can rap over the official Zedwap beat, showcasing their creativity and skill in a raw, unfiltered format. From all submissions, we will select seven artists to feature in the exclusive Zedwap Freshman Cypher, giving them additional exposure and highlighting their craft. There are no winners. Our goal is to give artists visibility and connect them with a wider audience.

We have long been a central hub for Zambian and African music, providing free access to tracks, videos, and downloads across genres like Afrobeat, Hip Hop, Dancehall, and Gospel. The Freshman Freestyle extends this vision, offering a direct platform for emerging voices to step forward.

The first edition of this series will set the tone for a yearly showcase, bringing together new and diverse artists. It’s an opportunity not just for individual recognition, but for strengthening our music community as a whole.
