Macky2 is a multi award winning artist, entrepreneur, and CEO from the Copperbelt. Over the years, he has built a successful career as both a recording artist and a DJ, becoming one of Zambia’s most influential music figures.

He rose to mainstream success in 2009 with hit singles like Ndinupondo, which later became one of the biggest remixes of that era. As his name grew, Macky2 entered a historic rap battle with fellow hip hop giant Slapdee, a rivalry that divided fans across the country.

During this time, Macky2 introduced his King Buga persona alongside his brother Chef 187, who quickly became a fan favorite. Together, they dominated the airwaves and built what would become a music empire rooted in family and loyalty.

While already at the top, Macky2 continued to shape the future of Zambian music. After appearing on a song by a rising artist from Kabwe, he publicly co signed Yo Maps, calling him the future of Zambian music.
That prediction came true. Songs like Finally and Alabalansa, which featured Macky2, became massive hits and helped launch Yo Maps into stardom.

Macky2’s impact did not stop there. In the early 2020s, Towela Kaira rose to fame with her unique blend of pop, R&B, and Afro fusion. With support from her brothers Macky2 and Chef 187, her transition into the industry was smooth and successful.
Soon after, Macky2 began mentoring another rising talent, Frank Ro. Through guidance, collaborations, and production support, he helped shape Frank Ro’s career into what it is today.

As Macky2 hinted at retirement, adopting the name Retired General, fans were left shocked and uncertain. Despite this, his influence remains strong. His label, Olijaba Entertainment, continues to discover and support new talent, including artists like Ozone Africa.

The Buga Effect is more than just music. It is a legacy. From building stars to shaping the industry, Macky2’s influence on Zambian music will be felt for generations to come.
