LCC, Wonderful Group Unveil Kafue Roundup, Kabwe Upgrade Next

For months, Lusaka residents have wondered what was being built at the Kafue Roundabout.

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) in partnership with Wonderful Group of Companies Limited, has completed the installation of a globe statue at Kafue Roundabout, a monument the council says symbolizes Lusaka’s position as a gateway to regional and international connectivity.

This is part of the local authority’s ongoing roundabout modernization programme, expected to strengthen the city’s aesthetic appeal while creating landmarks that celebrate Zambia’s heritage and aspirations.

In a statement, LCC Public Relations Manager, Chola Mwamba, said that the globe represents unity, global engagement, sustainable development and Lusaka’s position as a gateway to regional and international connectivity.

Mwamba said the monument further reflects the city’s growing role as a modern capital that is open to investment, trade and tourism.

Meanwhile, the Council says modernization works at the Kabwe Roundabout will soon commence, with the site set to feature an eagle statue.

“The eagle statue which will be featured at Kabwe Roundabout embodies strength, vision, resilience and freedom. As Zambia’s national bird, the eagle reflects the country’s enduring spirit and ambition to soar to greater heights,” Mwamba said.

“The statue serves as a reminder of national pride and the determination to build a prosperous future.”

Mwamba said the two monuments are more than decorative features, describing them as symbols of Lusaka’s transformation and the Council’s commitment to creating public spaces that promote civic pride, preserve national identity and enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal.

She said the statues, together with the modernized roundabouts, will become distinctive landmarks reflecting the capital’s progress and vision for sustainable urban development.
