Tanzanian Bongo Flava performer Ibraah returns with a soulful new ballad titled “Apite” (full title “Shetani Apite”).
This one comes as the second single off Love Season, his Konde Gang-backed EP that revolves around the different phases of love. When it lands on Harmonize Entertainment, the project is slim with three tracks and no guest features. So “Apite” is Ibraah’s voice from head to toe.
The production is awash in the warm, lyrical spirit of Bongo Flava, prioritizing emotional richness above anything dancefloor-ready. Here nothing rushes to a huge plunge. The setup is patient, letting Ibraah’s voice be the emotional center of the record.
His reading moves from vulnerability to conviction, as if he is confessing rather than playing the song. The expression, which might be translated as “let the devil pass,” means a prayer to get over suffering or temptation. There’s a spiritual weight to the record under the lovely surface.
