South African disc jockey and electronic artist DJ Smallz is back with a major new studio project called “VOGUE”. This much-anticipated body of work arrives when dance music fans are clamoring for new, genre-mashing sounds.
As the township electronic wave keeps expanding, music creators are constantly expected to connect slick production loops with raw street mentality. Recently, clubbers prefer deep piano grooves that keep a wild late-night festival adrenaline rather than simple commercial arrangements. This long-form project hits a really refreshing note, giving the sound pilot the chance to display his evolution throughout many tracking files. Still, the contagious arrangement makes a magnificent shield against seasonal tension, asking you to let go on the floor.
The producers generate a very rich, dynamic soundtrack that quickly swings from gloomy keyboard sequences to snappy drum beats. They use atmospheric synth pads behind driving basslines to give the instrumentation a hefty commercial bounce. Still, the beats have a wonderfully clean and spacious arrangement, leaving the vocal layers right up front and never drowned out. The sound engineers gave each loop speaker-rattling log drums, so the whole compilation has incredible aural intensity.
