Dandy Crazy was involved in a road traffic accident in Kapiri Mposhi
CELEBRATED musician Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Crazy, has been hospitalized at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after being involved in a fatal road accident that claimed four lives.
The accident occurred when a truck driver lost control due to excessive speed and collided with the vehicle in which Mr Chibambo was traveling with others.
The truck driver fled the scene after providing his details to officers, and a manhunt has been launched.
Central Province Commissioner of Police Charity Munganga said the incident occurred yesterday on the Great North Road.
“Four people have died while one sustained serious injuries in an accident which happened on 31st December 2024 around 19:10 hours at Green Leaf area, about 25 Kilometers south of Kapiri Mposhi along the Great North Road involving three vehicles,” she said.
Ms Munganga said the accident happened when the driver of a Shacman truck Registration number ADF 1575, T ADF 1576 identified as Kachalwa Lweendo aged 28 coming from Kapiri-Mposhi to Kabwe direction with one passenger on board, lost control of his truck due to excessive speed.
She said after losing control, the driver hit into a Toyota Allex Registration number ADD 5673 and a Nissan Hardbody Registration number ABJ 6469 coming from the opposite direction.
Ms Munganga said the driver of the Toyota Allex and two passengers died on the spot while Mr Chibambo sustained serious injuries and is admitted .
“The driver of the Nissan hardbody was alone in the vehicle and also died on the spot. The bodies of the deceased yet to be identified are lying in Kapiri Mposhi Urban Clinic mortuary,” she said
She added that the driver of the truck and his passenger escaped unhurt.
