Able KW – No Drugs

The well-known Ghanaian hip-hop musician Able KW has released a raw new solo single, “No Drugs.”
This is well off the party mix, with Able KW making his mark with a serious attitude and a message. The title itself is a statement, and that clarity extends throughout the whole record. Ghana’s hip-hop industry has always made room for performers that lead with conviction, and this record fits that lineage.
The production is simple, boom-bap leaning with solid rhythms and no frills, no shine. There is nothing here vying for the attention of the bars. The beat stays restrained, but Able KW’s vocal does most of the heavy lifting of the record.
He talks in a direct, no-nonsense way. A little plain speaking is better than metaphor-heavy wordplay. He doesn’t sugarcoat the message, and it is that bluntness that gives the song its edge. So “No Drugs” is more of a personal stance than moral preaching.
