Lusaka Pupil Found With Firearm!!
Kanyama Police Station on Sunday, July 7, 2024 successfully recovered a firearm. At approximately 00:30 hours, a patrol team composed of regular police officers, reserve police officers, and members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit recovered a firearm.
The firearm is identified as a Zastava Serbia Pistol, 9mm calibre, black in colour, with serial number 19576. It was recovered from a Male Juvenile pupil aged 18 from a named school and a resident of Garden Park area within Lusaka. The incident occurred yesterday July 7, 2024, around 00:30 hours in the Garden Park area of Lusaka. Brief facts of the case are that while officers were conducting patrols in the area when they received a tip-off from members of the public indicating that the suspect was illegally in possession of a pistol. Acting on this information, the patrol team apprehended the suspect and recovered the firearm.
The source of the firearm is currently unknown, and the case remains under investigation. A docket of case for unlawful possession of a firearm has been opened, and further updates will follow as the investigation progresses.
