Umusepela Crown – Nankwe

Zambian conscious rap technician Umusepela Crown serves out a highly contemplative, bar-heavy hip-hop cut titled “Nankwe” off of his acclaimed studio record Star Wakumwesu.

The introspective offering comes at a time when Southern African hip-hop fans and Zee beats purists are craving honest, message-driven rap recordings that deal with human connections and the reality of the streets. Umusepela Crown takes a stride ahead with crisp penmanship, employing honest storytelling to examine personal commitment, shifting allegiances, and the subtle complexity of navigating trust among peers.

The sound architect behind the boards creates a gritty, mid-tempo hip-hop soundtrack built around banging kick drums, sharp snares and a deep, rolling bassline. Constant bounce with plenty of headroom all across the mix. Ambient keyboard noises loop softly underneath the rhythm.

Umusepela Crown rules the microphone with precise breath control, nuanced cadences, raw delivery.
