UQhoshangokwenzakwakhe – Ukube kuyavuma

It is a deep song with a rich traditional background. Umciko Kamaskandi, South African cultural philosopher Qhoshangokwenzakwakhe, presents “Ukube kuyavuma.”
He himself says he plays that drum with a stick, with determination and a well-defined mastery. He fired the trigger and shot himself in the legs in Zulu as he vented his feelings and called for reflection and self-control.
The lyrics of this song are very much about dealing with thoughts of what life could be if things go the way you want them to, fighting the blues when doors close, and the importance of picking yourself up even when wishes don’t come true right away. And that’s a movement that’s bringing people together, creating unity and using the power of the Zulu language to touch hearts.
