DEC Arrests Zambian Musician Chanda Over Alleged Cannabis Trafficking
The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has reportedly apprehended popular Zambian musician Edward Chanda, professionally known as Chanda, in connection with the alleged trafficking of 30.3 grammes of dry loose cannabis.
According to a press statement reportedly issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the 28-year-old artiste, who resides in Lusaka’s Meanwood area, was arrested during intelligence-led operations targeting suspected drug trafficking networks.
The arrest was part of wider DEC operations conducted across Lusaka, Muchinga and Southern provinces. The operations reportedly resulted in several arrests and the seizure of suspected illicit substances, including cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and high-grade cannabis.
The Commission stated that suspects apprehended during the operations were in lawful custody and would be subjected to court proceedings.
The DEC has also urged members of the public to refrain from drug-related activities and provide information that could assist authorities in dismantling drug trafficking networks.
The allegations against Chanda have not been established as proven in court. Further updates are expected as the case progresses.
