Micky Singer – Dharau

Fast-rising Tanzanian singer-songwriter and Afro-fusion act Micky Singer makes a return with an emotional Bongo Flava single titled “Dharau.”

The contemplative offering arrives as East African music fans look for sonically rich records that speak to real-life struggles, self-worth, and emotional resilience. Fast-paced dance tracks dominate party playlists, but ballads about the sting of contempt always hit a nerve.

The producer lays down a warm, mid-tempo sound bed of gentle acoustic guitar riffs, soft keyboard chords, and crisp percussive shakers. There’s a subtle bassline underneath keeping the Afro-pop kick steady, maintaining an infectious bounce without disturbing the intimate mood.

Micky Singer steers the record with his smooth register, expressive pitch control, and seasoned Swahili phrasing. The lyricism is about overcoming mockery, about rising above criticism and protecting your dignity when you are underestimated. It translates as “contempt” or “disrespect.”
