The ngoma was held in the township of Emculweni now known as Kwadukuza, and it was an interaction between music lovers who wanted a spiritual experience and to be blessed in the physical world, to be healed in spirit, and to be honored for their knowledge of the drum. Pusha Moya, rather than chasing the noisy sounds of the clubs, creates a space of peace and reflection, speaking about the journey of a child guided or guarded by the spirit amid the trials and tribulations of the world.

UPusha Moya uthatha umbhobho ngesizwe sakhe elinzima, elinesizotha nesithunzi semikhuleko yesintu. The song’s lyrics are about encouragement, accepting your gift and your background, and asking for light and guidance from the ancestral powers as one struggles through life.
