Hamweene Calls on Youths to Harness Technology for Peace

Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church Southern Zambia Union Conference Youth Director, Dr. Highten Hamweene, has challenged young people to use technology and social media to promote peace and spread the word of God.

Dr. Hamweene says young people have an important role to play in changing the negative narrative surrounding the misuse of technology and social media by using the platforms to draw people closer to God.

He was speaking during the SDA Lusaka Youth Conference.

Dr Hamweene has also encouraged young people to remain faithful to God’s word, saying prayers are answered when believers have faith.

Meanwhile, SDA Lusaka Conference President, Pastor Francis Chibiya, has urged citizens to thank God for the peace the country continues to enjoy.

Pastor Chibiya said only God can sustain the peaceful atmosphere in the country.

And SDA Lusaka Conference Youth Chairperson, Elder Masulika Manyipa, says young people in the church are proud of President Hakainde Hichilema’s achievements.

Elder Manyipa said the President’s background as a Master Guide and his pursuit of excellence have inspired young people in the church to undertake community projects aimed at supporting vulnerable members of society.

He has also commended the President for policies such as free education, which he said continue to benefit young people.
