Hichilema Calls on Youths to Promote Peace Ahead of August Elections

President Hakainde Hichilema has called on young people across Zambia to remain committed to peace and unity as the country prepares for the August 13 General Election.

Speaking during the Lusaka Conference Seventh day Adventist (SDA) Youth Ministries Big Sabbath, President Hichilema said lasting peace and national development can only be achieved when people seek God’s wisdom and guidance.

He urged young people to protect the peace and stability the country continues to enjoy, noting that development, democracy and freedom depend on a peaceful environment.

The Head of State also praised SDA youths in the Lusaka Conference for their commitment to community service and their efforts to assist vulnerable members of society. To support their initiatives, President Hichilema donated a bus and pledged continued government support for youth led programmes that promote service and national development.

Meanwhile, Southern Zambia Union Conference President Dr. Vanny Munyumbwe reaffirmed the church’s commitment to praying for the country’s leaders and supporting efforts that foster peace, stability, and development.

Dr. Munyumbwe also commended the government’s investments in education, community development, and infrastructure. He said the Seventh day Adventist Church will continue working alongside the government through education, healthcare, humanitarian work, and the preaching of the gospel.

He further encouraged young people to make prayer a priority, saying taking time to seek God remains important despite the demands of everyday life.
