uNkosazana – Vuma Vuma Ft. SKING

South African soulful Amapiano act uNkosazana combines up with SKING for a new heartbreaking single titled “Vuma Vuma.”

This one dropped April 9 via PianoFever and slots nicely into uNkosazana’s ever growing catalog of collaborative Amapiano recordings. She’s been busy with the likes of Master KB and Cardinal X25 lately, getting a great string of features together. That consistency has helped identify her voice as one of the more soulful newcomers in the genre.

Here the production favors the delicate, melodic Amapiano textures over the coarser log-drum side of the genre. But the set-up is relaxed and unhurried, and the vocals are given plenty of room to breathe. The music is restrained, so that the emotional content of the record is revealed.

uNkosazana’s vocal performance is one of great compassion from the very first bars, choosing sensation to flash. Her speaking is in the flow of the rhythm rather than against the flow. The restraint is perfect for the soulful Amapiano niche she’s built for herself.
